Elyria school plans Spirit Week activities

WHAT: Life Skills Center of Elyria will hold Spirit Week Activities during the week of Oct. 1-5

WHERE: Life Skills Center of Elyria, 2015 West River Road, Elyria

WHEN: Session I is slated 8:15-10 a.m. Food will be served from 10-11 a.m. Sessions II and III will be held from noon-2 p.m. Food will be served from 2-3 p.m.

Life Skills Center of Elyria accommodates students ages 16-21 who are experiencing difficulties with public schools.

Here is a rundown of each day's activities.

Monday --- Favorite School Subject Day --- A hall decorating contest will be offered and food dealing with science experiments will be offered by teachers.

Tuesday --- Favorite Era Day --- Each classroom will be decorated in a different era, which will be taught all day. Teachers will prepare food from each time period and student presentations will be held at the end

Wednesday --- College Day --- College t-shirts will be raffled. Brochures and college information will also be available to students. A tailgate party will also be held with snacks and outdoor games.

Thursday --- Culture Day --- Each lab will pick a culture to discuss and food will be prepared from that culture. The melting pot will be taught as part of class.

Friday --- Board Game Day --- Students will play games in class corresponding with the subjects being taught (i.e. Risk and Stratego in Social Studies class; Operation and Ecosystem in Science class; Scrabble and Boggle in English class and chess and card games in math class). Chips and pretzels will be served during snack time.
